Objective?” Spark a million quit attempts “. 16 thematic teams were set up according to cessation methods, but also according to lifestyles. These teams are realized through Facebook groups. Among the groups we find slippers, partygoers,… those who smoke can be in the same contexts, for the same reasons. At the same time, 17 regional teams are proposed, and the government invites smokers who want to quit smoking to create their own teams, with family, friends or even colleagues within the same company.
Stop smoking by counting on the collective
Are we stronger together? This is the very premise of the demonstration. The month without tobacco in France is playing the collective card to encourage quitting, with a goal of one million quitters in November. Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn told a press conference that the idea of the demonstration was to reduce consumption “in a positive way, without any stigmatization”.
The government is tackling smoking, which in the words of the Minister must no longer be a social norm, for a product that kills more than 73,000 people every year and costs the state €26 billion. In parallel with digital tools, cities based on the fan zone model will develop itinerant and interactive devices. A web series will also be developed, in addition to the famous free kit already delivered last year.
